We are Imperfect – God Chose Us Anyway

Hey y’all!

Thank you so much for popping in, I have prayed for you!

I want to start this “blog” (I use the term VERY loosely- I have no idea what I am doing) being completely honest. I know that I personally love to read blogs and watch YouTube channels of “perfect girls.” Girls that seem to have it altogether, really have things figured out, and are happy ALL OF THE TIME! Let me tell you- they (and I) have a life behind the screen. The world steps in, frustrations and set backs all effect each of these “perfect happy girls” just like it affects you and I! Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying these girls aren’t positive and happy people finding joy in the Lord and sharing His love and word with us- because they are! I just want to be REAL with you, at least as real as I can through a keyboard, and share with you some of my insecurities and my struggles:

1st– I am goofy. Like break into song at any moment as if I’m in a musical kind of goofy (which is not an insecurity but if you heard me sing you might think otherwise lol). I mean, look at that picture at the top! But I also struggle with being positive, anger, and letting my anxiety get the best of me. While I am as goofy as can be, sometimes I am not, and I am just angry (which is crazy considering how blessed we all truly are). I am naturally a “realist,” unfortunately it is wired into my being and I haven’t completely unwired it just yet. So, it is hard for me to remain positive in bleak situations. Isn’t that crazy for me to act that way KNOWING God has promised us ETERNITY?! My point is I have struggles- just like you. With prayer, lots and lots of prayer, God is giving me the strength and helping me work through each of these issues. But, it is so humbling and amazing to me to know that I struggle with so many things and God still CHOSE me:

Ephesians 1:4 (NIV) says: “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight…”

Isn’t that beyond encouraging? That even though I (we) don’t deserve it and have a list of failures and shortcomings a mile long that God still chose me (YOU) before the world was even created?

(Disclaimer- I am currently obsessed with Ephesians 1:3-14. I read it over and over again because it is so encouraging, I really recommend cracking open your bible and reading it! I will quote verse 4 repeatedly so you might as well get acquainted with the entire passage!)

2nd: I am very hard on myself and Satan LOVES to use it to his advantage. Sometimes (frequently) we are our own worst enemy. I know that I sure am! While Christians SHOULD be held to a higher standard and each of us should work tirelessly everyday to be blameless (without sin), we also need to realize that God has implemented grace and forgiveness for a reason- 1. Because He loves us (John 3:16) and 2. Because He knows we are incapable of being without sin (Romans 7:18)!

So, I ask that you forgive yourself and others as much as God forgives you! Being a follower of Christ means that forgiveness isn’t really an option:

In Matthew 6:14-15 Jesus says (NIV): 14 “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Recognize that: “We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 (NIV)

Lastly: I am not enough. But God chose me anyway. God has taken me, someone who was overtaken with guilt and shame because of my shortcomings and sin for most of my life, and has given me purpose. God CHOSE me. In Ephesians chapter 1, it talks about how God has chosen us and my favorite- predestined us to live for Him and to further His kingdom. We are His children (refer to Ephesians 1:3-14 again lol) and He loves us with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3).

I will never be perfect. I will always strive to be, but thankfully God loves me (even with all of my flaws) and has paved a way for me anyway!

I hope that this has encouraged you and made you feel less alone in your struggles! If there is something that you would like to talk about please do not hesitate to reach out to me! I pray for you daily but if there is something specific you would like me to pray for please email me at:
